Oanh-Nhi Nguyen is an award-winning Vietnamese American director whose work explores diaspora, immigrant identity, and the complex bonds between generations. Named a 2026 Sundance Institute | The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) Scholar, her storytelling amplifies the lived experiences of Southeast Asian women and girls.

An AFI Conservatory Directing MFA graduate, Oanh-Nhi directed and co-wrote THE STAND as one of ten filmmakers selected for Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad & Indeed Rising Voices initiative. The film premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and is now streaming on Hulu. Her acclaimed narrative short LITTLE BIRD won the Jury Award for Best Student Short at Cinequest and a Remi Award at WorldFest Houston.

Her industry honors include being named a Shondaland x SeriesFest Directing Mentorship Top 3 Finalist, selection for the Tribeca Creators Market, the Athena Writers Lab for her comedy pilot UNACCEPTABLE, and the 2023 Tribeca premiere of her docuseries debut, TAKING ROOT.

She is currently set to direct her debut dramedy feature, THERE ARE NO SAINTS.
